We went into TJ Maxx looking for couch pillows. I had no idea what I wanted, yet at the same time, I knew exactly what I wanted. I just had to see it, and then I would know. I started going through them slowly, sifting through one at a time. But then I started going faster, and faster, until Jake was left in the wake of my pillow rampage. After scouring through the entire pillow aisle, I gave up.
We moved on to see what they had for end tables, but I was discouraged. I half-heartedly nodded at the suggestions Jake made. I had all these big plans for how I wanted to decorate the house, for how I wanted the space to feel. Chic but homey. Classy but comfortable. And I wasn’t finding anything that fit my vision…
Then I saw it. The Lamp.
I was drawn to it like love is drawn to Cupid’s arrow. It was everything I wanted my house to say, all in a lamp. I had to have it. (And fortunately, thanks to TJ Maxx’s great prices, I didn’t have to do much to convince Jake.) I even found the perfect couch pillows after we got it! Amazing the things one little lamp can do.
And in honor of my new little lamp, I’ve decided to do a little giveaway!!! One lucky person will win a $25 gift card to good ole’ TJ Maxx/Home Goods! All you have to do is leave a comment telling me your favorite decoration in your house, whether it’s a lamp, a painting, a cookie jar, a little figurine from Mexico… whatever it is :) Then I will randomly select a winner from the commenters next Wednesday! So, tell me, what’s something decorative in your house that you LOVE? Ready, go!
only one??!! Ugh… That’s hard!
I have a 3′ x 4′ canvas in my bedroom of a photograph I took of my then two boys. Even though its only two of my three boys I still swoon over it. :)
Ok, I’ll play….I have a large painting in my bedroom that I absolutely LOVE! It is entitled “When’s Daddy Coming Home” and it is a picture of a 2 year old dressed in an adorable pink dress, with her hair up in a ponytail, little tendrils of curls on the back if her cute little neck and she is standing on her tippy toes, looking expectantly out a picture window. It looks so much like my Cynthia at that age that we had to buy it.
Love the lamp, by the way! Very good taste you have my dear!
I have a large china hutch my grandfather built from scratch. It has turn edges, inlaid contrasting wood designs, and adjustable inlaid glass shelves. It is the most beaytiful piece of furniture I have ever seen and I am constantly amazed that he built it with his hands. Incredible.
kind a a decoration…my GIANT grey soft cuddly throw blanket. It’s the best
My favorite decoration is our Unity Cross that we used for our wedding ceremony! It has a special memory attached to it, plus adds to the room! :)
I have a 16 X 20 canvas picture that YOU took…right in the middle of our picture wall. I get comments all the time about how beautiful the picture is. You are the best! :-)
Years ago, before I got married, my kid brother gave me a beautiful lion statuette- kind of like what you’d see at the gates of a big estate (only about 10″ tall). It’s still my favorite!
