When I was little, I used to pretend I was a horse. Or a wolf. Sometimes a tiger. Whatever suited my fancy. I was one of thooose girls. I didn't really play with dolls or put on lipstick and wear my mom's heels. Instead, I created elaborate stories in my head and played them out for hours, sometimes days, until the story was complete.
As I got older, I thought for a time that I wanted to be a writer. Instead of acting out the stories in my imagination, I tried to put them on paper. I would sit down and start these grand novels, only to begin another one after a few chapters in the first. I had every intention of finishing them. I just... never did. Apparently writing isn't my strong suit.
Then I found a camera. Jackpot. I found a way to stop time. To tell real stories. The kind of stories that should be remembered. Need to be remembered. Stories full of life and love that beg to be preserved and shared.
So I guess you could call me a story teller. A really, really ridiculously blessed and happily married story teller who can't cook but laughs a lot and has three dogs. I love my life.
I’m a huge sap. For real. When it comes to anything sentimental, or romantic, or heartwarming, I’m one of the biggest saps you’ll ever meet. (Cue the music and get the tissues!) Which of course means that I love Valentine’s Day. It’s only the most sappy holiday of the entire year. (Yes, I do love getting roses and chocolates and even a cuddly teddy bear on occasion, thankyouverymuch.)
In light of this, I’ve decided to hold a little contest! No, not for roses. Or even a cuddly teddy bear. This is for a $25 gift certificate to the Cheesecake Factory!!! After all, what’s better than a little love and a little cheesecake? Yeah, I couldn’t think of anything either.
So, if you wanna win, all you have to do is leave a comment telling me what your favorite romantic movie is! Or if you’re not really into those, I’ll take a romantic comedy, too. Just name a favorite feel-good movie :) And yes, guys can enter too. No judgement here if you like chick flicks! Haha ;) You have until Sunday night to leave a comment, and then I’ll pick the winner randomly on Monday morning.
I LOVE this contest because by tradition Joey and I go to Cheesecake Factory every year for Valentine’s Day (and secondly, for my birthday – it’s my fave!)!
Woohoo! I hope I get picked!
And where do I start with my favorite romantic movie?!? The first that came to mind was “The Holiday” but I do love me some “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “He’s Just Not That Into You” and my Disney fave “Lady & the Tramp” – LOVE! :)

The ULTIMATE love story is Pride and Prejudice. You just can’t get better than that! :)

I LOVE The Notebook! I say it’s time for us to have a girl date & watch it!

I LOVE cheesecake, I am actually trying to figure out if I can have a cheesecake wedding cake!!! “500 Days of Summer” is a romantic (comedy?) movie I have seen recently. I do agree that “Pride and Prejudice” is an all time favorite! And “Once” is an awesome film! :)
Favorite romantic movie, Jezebel. Favorite feel good, Ferris Bueller’s Day off. At least that’s my mood this second. :)

I’ve gotta say I can’t ever get enough of moulin rouge. I can watch that over and over.

My four go-to chick-flicks have to be The Notebook, Pride and Prejudice, Serendipity and Life As We Know It. Any night I have the TV to myself and nothing to do, there’s a good chance I’ll be watching one of these. Sometimes a girl just needs a good chick-flick!

“Pride and Prejudice” has to be my all-time favorite romantic movie. I’m talking about the BBC version with Colin Firth of course :)
Is it okay if I enter? I did get some sweet shots at your wedding for you ;) I’m not really into chick flicks, but my favorite ‘love story’ movies are Big Fish and Nightmare Before Christmas. I think they are both quite romantic.
Today I’d like to introduce you to one of the funniest families I’ve ever met! They had me laughing almost the entire time. Mike and Brittanie are seriously hilarious. (Just don’t tell Mike, we don’t want it to go to his head ;) Haha.) The kids are pretty great, too. Hunter is such an awesome big brother to Mya, they are adorable together. Easily one of my favorite family sessions to date :) Enjoy some of my faves!
Such a precious family.
Tough guys.
Mya loved all the chocolate she got during the shoot ;)
If these next pictures don’t make you smile, well, you might be heartless.
Who has two thumbs and didn’t get a flu shot last fall? This girl. And who regrets not getting a flu shot big time? This girl. To say I got sick last week would be a bit of understatement. I got plagued. The only enjoyable thing about last week was the full Harry Potter marathon I got to have while I was immobile on the couch. Whatever that awful virus was, it got me good. Real good. Jake even told me I sounded like Darth Vader… Let’s just say I’m glad it seems to be over now. (Also, telling your wife she sounds like Darth Vader while sick? Not a smooth move.)
In other news, Giants pulled out a big win yesterday! Ok, ok, I’d be lying if I said I paid much attention to football. But I was actually quite impressed with Madonna. (Minus the gold pom poms.) She’s still got it! (She might also look better at 54 than I do at 23, but let’s not go there.) The commercials, on the other hand, let me down. None of them came close to beating last year’s best one, in my opinion. If I had to choose, though, I’d say Volkswagon did it again. This was my favorite commercial:
But I do have to give a shout out to the M&M commercial, too. Definitely made me laugh. Any other good commercials I might have missed? (I was frequenting the kitchen quite a bit as there were some amazing strawberries to be had!) What was your favorite?!
I met Bradley Cooper last week. Definitely one of two highlights for me at Sundance this year. We shook hands. He said it was nice to meet me. Polite guy, eh? I wish I had a picture for proof, but sadly, you’ll just have to take my word for it. And yes, he is just as good looking in person.
What was the other highlight? Seeing Safety Not Guaranteed. Best Sundance movie I’ve ever seen. BEST. No lie. But hopefully you won’t have to take my word for it. Hopefully it’ll make it to the big screen. It sure deserves to in my book. And if it does, I’ll definitely let you guys know.
Most people suffer from morning breath. I suffer from morning voice.
Oh, you’ve never heard of morning voice? Allow me to explain. It’s when you wake up and sound like a croaking frog for about half an hour. Or maybe a hoarse donkey is a better analogy. It makes it impossible to deny that you’ve just been sleeping. One too many times I’ve woken up to answer my phone and, after trying to give a hearty greeting, they reply with Did I wake you up? Embarrassing.
And believe me. I try to gather myself and clear my throat, focusing very hard on sounding as normal as possible. Nothing works. So while people with morning breath can brush their teeth and use mouth wash, sadly, I have yet to find a cure for morning voice. If you have one? HELP A SISTER OUT. Which leads us to this month’s Friday Fun Facts:
1. Morning voice is much more inconvenient than morning breath.
2. If you haven’t worked out for an extended period of time and then jump back into the gym, you will definitely be sore the next day. However, you will be even more sore the second day. I call it Second Day Workout Syndrome. And it’s a great excuse to lay in bed five minutes longer.
5. If you’ve made some coffee and you’re taking it on the go, make sure you do the Coffee Tip Test. (I’m full of new slogans this month, eh?) In other words, after screwing on the lid to your mug, tip it over the sink to make sure you put the lid on right. It’s much better than accidently testing it in the car. On your lap. Wearing new pants…
6. The sweet butter from Texas Roadhouse? I’m pretty sure it’s one of the leading causes of high cholesterol in America. SO GOOD.
7. Biolage is the best shampoo and conditioner in the entire world. And it smells the best, too. Worth every penny.
8. The YouTube phenomena Sh*t Girls Say, which has turned into a tidal wave of videos about the crazy things people say, is ridiculously hilarious. (Sorry for the swear word, Mom.) I have yet to see one that hasn’t made me laugh. The best one by far, though, is Sh*t Nobody Says. No matter how many times I’ve seen this, it never gets old. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and start your weekend off with a laugh. Or if you have seen it, go ahead and watch it again. Because it’s that funny.
Morning voice = dry vocal folds. You live at a high altitude so naturally there isn’t as much humidity, if any at all. But you already knew that. :) Try running a cool or warm mist humidifier while you sleep. Make sure you’re hydrated during the day, and try drinking an herbal tea with lots of honey before bed and when you wake up. Hope that helps! You also could have acid reflux, or if you know that you do, that affects your voice and irritates your vocal folds!

Love this contest idea! I would have to say my top picks are: Ever After, Chocolat, Letters to Juliet and You’ve Got Mail.
There are so many good ones, but I’ll leave it at those :)
