The Things I’d Do to Go to Seattle…

If you are a photographer, chances are you’ve heard of creativeLIVE. If you’re a wedding photography enthusiast, chances are you’ve heard of Jasmine Star.  And if you’re a wedding photographer who loves creativeLIVE and Jasmine Star, chances are you watched her two years ago when she shot Laura and Billy’s wedding live for photographers everywhere to watch and learn.

This might come as a surprise to some of you, but I just so happen to fit into all of the above categories. So when Jasmine announced on a her blog a month and a half ago that she was going to be on creativeLIVE again, and that six lucky students would have a chance to join her and learn from her in person, I knew I had to jump on that like a monkey jumps on a banana. All we had to do to enter was make a video entry. She did the same thing last year when she was on creativeLIVE for a second time, but I had prior engagements and wouldn’t have been able to go. This year, however, I can go, and want to go. Like reeeeally badly. Bad enough that I made a ridiculous video in the hopes of winning a spot. (See video below for ridiculousness.)

You might be wondering why I just now made a video when I’ve known for over a month, and the deadline is in about 5 days… Well, truthfully, I’ve been putting it off. Because I hate the sound of my voice. You know how you sound one way in your head and then you hear yourself back on recording? Yeah, it’s not that pleasant. The first time I heard my voice back I was all Nooooo for REAL?! That’s what I sound like??? (I refused to be recorded for about a month after that.) Then again, I don’t think anyone really LIKES to hear themselves. Except for maybe Morgan Freeman. But he doesn’t count. So yes, I was putting it off because I shudder when I watch myself on video. Well, that, and we all know how awesome I am at making videos. (Note the sarcasm.)

BUT, I know I would’ve have regretted it majorly if I didn’t put myself out there and try to win a spot. This is going to be one INCREDIBLE learning opportunity, thanks to the extreme generosity of Jasmine and the folks at creativeLIVE. So I did, strange voice and all. Haha.

I just want to, again, say a big fat HUGE thank you to Jasmine, JD, and the creativeLIVE team for putting on a course like this for the third time!! Seriously, I can’t thank you guys enough for all the things I’ve learned from you all. I gained so much from the last courses, and I can only imagine this one will be even better. Whether I get chosen or not, you guys are still awesome ;)
