This week I was planning to blog one of the many beautiful weddings I’m behind on sharing! Sadly, life had other plans for me. I’m really not one for the woe-is-me mentality, but our household has been fighting one (or maybe three) cold viruses for the last two and a half weeks, and it’s put a damper on our productivity, to say the least. It started with Jake, got passed on to Natalie, and I inevitably picked it up shortly after. It’s been a lot of coughing, tissues, Vick’s Vapor Rub, and simply trying to make it through the day until bedtime. Good news, I think we are finally on the mend! So maybe next week I’ll blog a wedding? Optimism.
Funny story though. My voice has been a little, shall I say, special. I’ve been sounding like these guys from Monster’s Inc. (Skip ahead to 29 seconds in.) Anyhow, a few days ago Natalie was at her day school and Jake was at work, so I was getting some editing done at the computer. I’d been coughing a lot throughout the morning, but not talking much because, well, I’m not one of those people who has conversations with their dogs. A little later Jake called to let me know he was on his way home from work. When I answered the phone, I opened my mouth to say hello, fully expecting to hear my voice. Instead, a measly squeak came out. I tried again with a little more force, only to acheive the same result. I started laughing, which also sounded like a pathetic attempt at a baby seal imitation, and in turn made me laugh even harder. At this point Jake started laughing too. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard (or maybe I should say squawked). I was crying from the laughter. It probably lasted for a good 5 minutes, me trying to have a conversation with Jake, only to start laughing again at the pitiful sound of my voice. Hilarious, right?! Ok, maybe you had to be there. But I still laugh thinking about.
In other news, my latest fashion trend has been the “dressing through my daughter” style. In other words, as long as Natalie looks adorably put together, I figure that means my life seems put together as well and I can get away with a more disheveled look. Solid reasoning, no? Yeah, that’s what I’m telling myself.
Who’s ready to go to the store? Natalie is!
(Excuse the quality. It’s an iPhone snap.)
Happy weekend everyone!!
